Insights from IPPE: Vacuum Packaging Needs in Food Processing and Cold Chain Systems

In early 2026, the Jetken team traveled to Atlanta, USA, to attend the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), a major industry event covering food processing, packaging, animal production, and cold chain technologies.

Unlike traditional equipment-focused exhibitions, IPPE felt more like a comprehensive platform centered on how food can be preserved and distributed efficiently across the entire supply chain. From food processors and cold chain providers to packaging equipment manufacturers, all participants were discussing the same topic: reducing loss, extending shelf life, and improving supply chain stability.

During conversations with visitors from different regions, we observed a clear trend: whether in agricultural processing, meat production, or ready-to-eat food sectors, companies are re-evaluating the role of packaging within the cold chain system.

A food processing company manager shared that they are now dealing with longer transportation routes and more complex distribution networks. In this context, packaging is no longer just a final production step, but a critical factor that directly impacts product quality stability.

Against this backdrop, vacuum packaging technology emerged as one of the most frequently discussed solutions at the show. Whether for agricultural products, grains, meat, or processed foods, the core requirements remain consistent: reducing oxidation risks, controlling moisture, and improving overall preservation.

At the exhibition, Jetken presented vacuum packaging solutions tailored for food processing and cold chain applications, including automated system configurations designed for different production line requirements. These solutions attracted attention from both processors and supply chain service providers.

What mattered more than the equipment itself was the genuine industry demand reflected in on-site conversations.

Some clients mentioned that they are rethinking the relationship between packaging and the cold chain. In the past, cold chain systems were seen mainly as transportation safeguards, but now packaging is increasingly regarded as the first layer of stability control within the system.

These conversations did not lead to exaggerated conclusions, but they clearly reflected a reality: competition in the food industry is shifting from isolated production capacity to integrated supply chain capability.

For Jetken, every exhibition is not only an opportunity to showcase equipment, but also a process of re-understanding industry structure and customer needs.

Looking ahead, Jetken will continue to focus on food processing and cold chain applications, optimizing vacuum packaging solutions so that packaging becomes a true bridge between product quality and distribution efficiency.
